101: Learning through The Creative Process

101: Learning through The Creative Process: Standards-Driven Creative Spaces
*Prerequisite for all Level 201 courses.

Participants will explore the connective tissue of the Maryland State Fine Arts Standards and the essential elements of the Creative Process.  Arts Educator and Community Teaching Artists will investigate their own teaching and making methods in an effort to understand their own habits to launch them into a reflective and strengths-based approach to professional learning through MCreds.

This course is a prerequisite for all Level 201 courses. Upon successful completion of this course, participants will receive an endorsement in Learning through The Creative Process and can take all level 201 courses. Maryland Art Educators will be eligible for 1 CPD credit.

P-2 201: Early Childhood: Journey: A Universal Experience
Students in Pre-K thru 2nd grade
An experiential exploration of the critical connections between child development, effective teaching and learning, and classroom management for Pre-Kindergarten through second grade learners. Participants will identify and apply key child development stages to create developmentally appropriate learning experiences.

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will receive an endorsement in Early Childhood Classrooms. CPD credit is not available for this course.

201: Creative Teaching and Learning for Elementary & Middle School Students
For students in 3rd-8th grades
This course emphasizes teaching strategies related to child/youth development, effective teaching and learning, MD Fine Arts Standards and Assessment, and classroom environment and management. This course uses the framework of Inspiration, Exploration, Elevation, Assessment and Presentation as a thoughtful and reflective approach to the teaching practice as it relates to grades 3-8.

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will receive an endorsement in Elementary & Middle School Students. CPD credit is not available for this course.

201: Creative Spaces in High School Communities
For students in 9th-12th grades
The High School Communities course offers best practices for building creative learning communities with students in the 9 - 12 grade band. This course explores the knowledge and skills needed to develop, implement, and evaluate meaningful activities for adolescents. Emphasizing the central role of the facilitator, the course also provides opportunity for participants to reflect on their personal skill set.

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will receive an endorsement in High School Communities. CPD credit is not available for this course.

201: Veteran-Ready Community Arts Provider Training

This course prepares community arts providers and arts educators to develop, implement, and evaluate meaningful programming for Veterans, military personnel, and their family members. Upon successful completion of this course, participants will receive an endorsement in Veteran-Ready Community Arts. Maryland Art Educators will be eligible for 1 CPD credit.
